An excellent trip
Susan and Mike Rochon 7th Jan 2019
In November we spent 13 days on safari in the outer Kruger area of South Africa well organised by On Track Safaris. Normally we tell the agent where to go but this time OTS organised everything and the trip went like clockwork. We stayed at four different lodges in the area and had exceptional game viewing even though the whole area was in the third year of drought. We will certainly consider using OTS again.
Outstanding Safari Company
Sue Tolputt 9th Dec 2018
What an amazing experience On Track Safaris (OTS) gave us. We used them 3 years ago and, when we decided to do another safari, this time with friends, there was no question about which company we would use. From the time we emailed Carol with suggested dates until we left Heathrow, the booking process was straightforward and very smooth. When we booked we didn’t know exactly which lodges we would be staying at (although we knew the Reserves); this is because until we confirmed dates Carol couldn’t make bookings with the lodges. From past experience, however, we did know that the quality of them would be exceptional – we were not disappointed!! We stayed at Rukiya Safari Camp, Raptor Retreat Game Lodge, N’kaya Game Lodge and Nzumba Game Lodge. We were thoroughly spoiled at each lodge in so many ways; the accommodation, the food, the guides/trackers and finally the sightings. OTS specialises in small group safaris in support of leopard conservation meaning that the lodges are chosen because they are small (usually max 8 guests) which means that everyone has a good view from the game vehicle, and because they offer accommodation of a very high standard. We appreciate that the animals don’t appear on command and that there may be game drives when you see not a lot but we had exceptional guides and trackers who went out of their way to safely track animals for us. We were lucky enough to see not only the Big Five but also the Ugly Five and enjoyed a very informative morning bush walk whilst at Raptor Retreat. We met some lovely people at each lodge. We have great photos. We have fantastic memories and we wouldn’t hesitate to use them for a third time.
10 days of incredible safari adventures in South Africa
Steve Pollard 3rd Dec 2018
On Track organised a 10 day safari staying in 4 different lodges for us and our friends. We had the most amazing time ane experience, with some truly unforgettable encounters with numerous animals in particular elephant, lion and cubs, leopard and cups, hippos, plus of course the various antelope species, warthog, zebra and what turned into my favourite the incredibly graceful giraffe. All the lodges were luxurious and very comfortable. The staff were friendly, helpful and the guides and trackers in particular were informative and very good at their jobs. Food was great, too much of it at times but always delicious. Thoroughly enjoyed this experience, and because of the effort On Track put in behind the scenes we didn't have to think about anything. All the transfers were in place and all the lodges were brilliant. Cannot recommend highly enough. Will definitely use On Track again in the future.
14 Day South African Safari
Jane Potts 5th Nov 2018
Had an amazing holiday which was organised by On Track Safaris - we stayed in 4 different lodges which were on private game reserves. All the hosts were very welcoming, the accommodation was extremely comfortable, wonderful food, and very knowledgeable guides and trackers. We saw the big and the small '5' as well as lots of other animals and lots and lots of fantastic birds. The trackers and guides had amazing eyes and could spot something miles away that was extremely well camouflaged and there was no way that we would have seen it! The trip was very well organised by Will and Carol - all the transfers between the airport and the different lodges were very punctual as were the game drives in the morning and afternoon. It was an incredible experience which I will always remember, especially when we turned a corner on one of our game drives and there was this massive male lion fast asleep - it took your breath away!
Three lodges in 9 days safari in Kruger park - AMAZING!
Giuliano Vigano 22nd Oct 2018
I took my parents to this holiday of a lifetime and we were extremely happy with how everything was organised. The staff, the guides and everyone at each lodge was amazing. The food was outstanding, and the staff extremely helpful and friendly. each guide that took us on a drive or walk has a clear passion for the animals, plans and the ecosystem of Kruger park and it shows. Each day was an adventure and each day we managed to see something extraordinary. I couldn't recommend them highly enough.
Trip of a life time - Big cat safari
Ross and Christine James 17th Oct2018
We have just returned from a very special holiday to South Africa on the Big Cat Safari organised by On Track Safaris. The whole trip was amazing. We stayed at three different Reserves which allowed us different experiences. Rukiya (Wild Rivers Reserve) with hosts Lily and Conrad. The game drives were much longer than expected with knowledgeable drivers giving us every opportunity to see many different animals including a pride of lions hunting, elephants, hippos, giraffes, wild dogs and lots of birds; eagles, owls and vultures and smaller mammals including mongoose. The accommodation was excellent and the home cooked food was very good. The setting is fantastic. The second venue was at Tangala (Thornybush). We were so lucky to have the best sited tent on the Reserve overlooking and very near to the watering hole. We could have spent all day sat on our veranda just watching the animals coming to drink and the hippo who spent most of the day immersed in the water but occasionally went for a stroll. We watched the baby giraffes flexing their muscles and striking each other with their necks and the zebra nervously drinking . The game drives gave us further opportunity to see more animals including lions, leopards and a pack of endangered wild dogs. Brilliant! The third Reserve was Vueyatela (Sabi Sands). This was the most amazing place to stay in luxury lodges. It just got better and better! The driver and tracker were very experienced and provided us with sightings we will never forget including watching leopards with their kill and hyenas stealing it away. We spent time with the wild life film crew who film 'Safari Live' (see youtube or face book)which was incredibly interesting and now we are home we keep tuning in now to remind ourselves of the experience we had. Will Fox accompanied us on this trip and we enjoyed his entertaining stories and after dinner camp fires. Arrangements leading up to the holiday were smooth and without problems. We finished the holiday with a couple of days at Victoria Falls staying at the Victoria Lodge Hotel. We would have liked one more day here to relax and watch the vulture feeding which apparently happens at 1pm every day. We have no hesitation in recommending this company. Many thanks Will and Carol for the adventure we will never forget.
Uganda is more than gorillas
Ian Hughes 16th Oct 2018
We've just had another great safari with On Track Safari. My wife and I did a tailored trip to Uganda starting in early September. From the outset Carole and Will worked hard to make sure the itinerary fitted our requirements. From the off on landing in Uganda everything ran smoothly Our guide was knowledgeable and interesting showing us not only the animals but also the wider aspects of Uganda. Murchison's falls and the park were fabulous with a great variety of game some in large herds. The falls were particularly spectacular from the top where we stopped on our way into the park. In other areas we tracked chimpanzees, getting a very close viewing of them, and saw lions climbing trees. Whether game viewing or travelling Stephen, our guide was always careful to ensure that we were getting what we wanted from the trip . If we wanted to stop to take photographs or stretch our legs there was never a problem and if he thought there was a particular good viewing area he would stop and point out the sights. He was always prepared to go the extra mile to try and spot something special. Clearly an experienced guide he had an excellent working relationship with other guides and park staff enabling him to get the latest information and sightings. Some of the roads were very rough however the transport we had was excellent and made it as comfortable as possible for us. The gorillas were of course the icing on the cake. A great close viewing of a family including the silver back. The trekking to get to the gorillas was a little steep but the sighting was worth the effort. This was our third trip with On Track Safaris which in itself shows what a great safari experience we think they provide.
On Track is simply the best!
Carol Patterson 9th Aug 2018
I have taken a few trips to South Africa with On Track and they have always been truly amazing experiences. Because of that, I jumped at the opportunity to do another adventure with them and visit a very different country and location - the Pantanal in Brazil. While it was very different than the SA trips, the level of care, trip planning and attention to detail that you always get on any trip with On Track remained the same. They make sure your trip is safe, unique, filled with wonderful wildlife experiences and that you stay in good lodging that has a commitment to minimizing ecological and environmental impact. Responsible travel is important to me because I value wildlife and wild spaces. On Track also has the best people with you on your trip, whether it is your guide, lodge host or boat driver, and they always strive to deliver the best experience possible. In short, everything they do makes your trip with them a really great memory and special experience. I've been on vacation with them every year for 4 years in a row and I can't wait to decide where I might go with them next!

We have just returned from an overland trip to Botswana . We were both a bit apprehensive about this trip before, mainly because of camping in the wild for much of the time, but I have to say the whole trip turned out to be the adventure of a lifetime! It was truly wonderful. This trip won’t be for those who don’t want to muck in with cooking and clearing up, and particularly those who like regular showers. And possibly not for those who wouldn’t want a bull elephant walking through there camp! Fortunately we were with a group of like minded people, who I know we can now call friends. Thank you Will and Carol Fox, and also Roy, Marcus and Jen
India Special Safari led by Will Fox
Mick Pritchard 29th Apr 2018
My last posting was on 4/6/17. My wife and I have returned from our trip to India and we were not disappointed. This was a well organised and well paced trip which met all our expectations. Delhi was sensory overload, but that said I enjoyed the day’s sightseeing and learning a little about the history and culture of the city. My wife particularly enjoyed the cycle rickshaw through the narrow streets of Delhi Old Town and experiencing the true hustle and bustle as locals went about their business. We had a welcome dip in the pool when we returned to Claridges Hotel. We flew down to Jabalpur where we were met by our air conditioned cars and driven to Kings Lodge, Bandhavgarh NP. On arrival each guest was given a metal water bottle. One of the lodge’s aims is to reduce single use plastic water bottles and protect the natural environment. They have a programme of educating and providing water bottles to local schools and communities. Our detached room was very comfortable with air conditioning, a huge bed and balcony. It didn’t take us long to settle in and find the pool to cool off with our favourite refreshments. We transferred to Kanha Earth Lodge, Kanha NP. Our room was very spacious and the veranda was regularly visited by langur monkeys. I don’t like Indian food but both lodges served a continental option. The food was very good and my wife even tempted me to try some of the local cuisine – with mixed results! The staff at both lodges were friendly, attentive and went out of their way to look after us. Be prepared for early morning starts, especially at Kanha where we left the lodge at 0500 to register at the park gate in time for opening at 0600 returning to the lodge at around 1130. At both lodges, breakfast was served in the park enabling us to maximise our time on game drives. Lunch was served at 1300 so there was time to freshen up and then enjoy the pool or have a nap before the afternoon game drives. Our best tiger sightings were in Bandhavgarh NP but that said, we missed the last game drive in Kanha when the group saw 4 tigers – it is always worth remembering those that snooze, lose! This was my first trip to India – would I return? Well, my next trip is already booked. We are going in search of the Snow Leopard in March 2020 with OTS. Thanks to Will and Carol for organising a great trip and thanks to our travel companions for making it so special.
